Travel and Leisure magazine has announced its annual list of places to visit and it is a huge one. Yes the list of 50 Best Places to Travel in 2017 is now out. There were many factor that were considered while preparing this list. Many travel specialists, writers and destination experts were involved. Then factors such as exciting resorts and restaurants openings, events, locations and experiences were considered.
While beach destinations featured prominently in the list of top 50 places to visit in 2017, food and drink was also considered to a great extent – an emerging travel trend – while preparing the list. Whereas one fourth of the destinations in the list could be covered as long weekend trips from the USA, many far flung destinations in Asia, Europe and Africa were also included in the list.
Among the destinations in Asia, Hampi in Karnataka also made the cut. Its inclusion was as much due to the 14th century ruins of the Vijayanagara Empire which has been inscribed as World Heritage Site by UNESCO as it was due to opening of a new luxury hotel. The Orange County located less than 5 kilometers from the heritage site offers stay in 46 palatial rooms. The architecture and décor of the entire property is inspired by the Vijayanagara style.
