Luxury train travel portal, Indian Luxury Trains, added Mahaparinirvan Express to its already impressive lineup of luxury trains. Come next year and the Mahaparinirvan Express will begin its season on January 12.

The train is scheduled for a couple of monthly journeys till March 2013. It features a 7-night, 8-day journey that takes passengers to 7 prominent Buddhist pilgrim destinations like Gaya and Bodhgaya, Kushinagar, Lumbini, Shravasti, and others. After it introduced the Fairy Queen a couple of days ago, this is the second train Indian Luxury Trains has added in as many days. The train is believed to provide a unique cultural insight into the Buddhist culture with its insightful journey and is already a hit with Buddhist devotees.

It is also noteworthy that the Mahaparinirvan Express is priced considerably lower when compared to other Indian luxury trains such as the Maharaja’s Express, Palace on Wheels, the Golden Chariot, and the Deccan Odyssey. Passengers have 4 seating options – from AC first class to AC  three tier – and tariffs range from $770 to 1120 for the entire journey.
