Indian Railways’ Buddhist circuit train started operations. Flagged off from Safdarjung Railway Station on the 8th of December 2018, the train begins an 8-day Buddhist pilgrimage. The beige and brown LHB (Linke-Hofmann-Busch) model, manufactured in India, at Kapurthala Rail Coach Factory (RCF) has upgraded to its name.

Similar to the Indian luxury train – Maharajas Express, the Buddhist Circuit tourist train has got upgrades. Luxury features, amenities and more have been added, for the total comfort of passengers.

Coaches: The Buddhist circuit train is a 12-coach rake, with four First AC coaches, two Second AC coaches, two dining cars, two power cars, one Third AC coach for staff, and one pantry car. While the First AC coach can accommodate 24 passengers, the Second AC coach has a capacity of 30.

Upgrades: The train gets upgrades in luxury features such as Venetian windows, a separate pantry for vegetarian and non-vegetarian passengers, modular bio-vacuum toilets, personalized digital lockers, and shower rooms among many others.

Journey: The rail journey covers all places that hold significance to the life of Buddha, which includes Bodh Gaya, Rajgir (Nalanda), Varanasi (Sarnath), Lumbini, Kushinagar, Sravasti and lastly, a visit to Taj Mahal in Agra.

Exteriors: Unique vinyl wrapping presenting world heritage sites in India, other important sites, wildlife, Indian dance forms, yoga postures, and Indian vegetation with the addition of anti-graffiti features.

Features:
CCTV cameras, an advanced fire detection and suppression system, a passenger announcement system, sofa with adjustable reading lights to enjoy panoramic views.

Modular Bathrooms: Bathrooms on either side include showers with geysers, urinals in each lavatory, and modular fittings in the toilets such as touchless taps, soap dispensers, hand dryers, etc.

Dining Car: With a capacity of 64 passengers, the two dining cars have teakwood finish glass top tables. The latest equipment added includes a plate dispenser, wine chiller, Baine Marie for serving hot food, a programmable coffee vending machine, a microwave oven, and an automatic dishwasher. Seating has stainless steel partition frames with electrically operated Venetian blind windows where you can relish mouthwatering meals.

Pantry: The LHB model pantry has amenities including a salamander, combi ovens, electric hot plate, deep fat fryers, dough-making machine, deep freezers, ice-cream chest freeze, under-counter freezers, RO water dispenser, and many more.
