Palace on Wheels won the PATWA International Award after being nominated for the same. The Minister of State for Tourism, Krishnendra Kaur (Deepa) bestowed Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje with the PATWA International Award for Palace on Wheels, at her office on Tuesday. This added another star to the profile of Palace on Wheels, the pioneer of Luxury Trains in India. The tourism department officials and the entire team were congratulated by Raje for their achievements.
The Pacific Area Travel Writers Association (PATWA) International Awards are given annually at ITB Berlin in March. ITB Berlin is the world’s biggest travel and trade fair.
Enjoying the reputation of one of the most sought-after and coveted awards of the travel trade, the PATWA Awards are handed over to organizations or individuals who are involved or have excelled in the field of promotion of tourism.
This year, the event was held on March 9, 2018, which brought much glory to Palace on Wheels for winning the PATWA International Award.
After receiving the award, the Chief Minister complimented the tourism department by applauding them for their unprecedented work in the last 4 years for the development of tourism. She also said that Rajasthan has marked its presence on the World Tourism Map.
The Chief Minister gave credit for the surge in tourists to the increased tourism facilities, improved infrastructure of tourism, and effective campaigning.
Jointly operated by RTDC and Indian Railways, the Palace on Wheels, received the Pacific Area Travel Writers Association (PATWA) in the category of luxury tourist train of the year at ITB Berlin.
Recently revamped in 2017, Palace on Wheels is not just one of the finest luxury trains in India it is also the first in the country. The award was presented by the Minister of State, Tourism, Art & Culture, KJ Alphonse to the Director of Tourism, Pradeep Kumar Board.
