The Indian Railways has announced that the seven-star Indian luxury train, the Maharajas’ Express will now ply between Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, and Kerala. This is an effort to encourage tourism in the Konkan region.

During an event, Suresh Prabhu, Union Railway Minister said, “The Maharajas’ Express currently operates between Delhi, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. We plan to start it on the Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, and Kerala route by this year-end. It will cater to tourists who want to visit the Konkan region and also generate employment for locals.”

He further added that this premium luxury train till now was traveling across Northern India including Delhi and Rajasthan. Still, it will soon be launched in South and West India, from this year onwards. The Railway Minister also said that discussions with Goa’s Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar are on about the state’s addition to the train’s itinerary and the new route.

The world-renowned Maharajas Express train started its first journey in 2010. It was been the winner of the world’s ‘Leading Luxury Train’ at The World Travel Awards constantly for five years in a row, that is 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016. The train offers well-planned itineraries and is known for offering modern comforts, couple with flawless hospitality.
