The world’s most expensive Indian luxury train ‘Maharajas’ Express’ is set to begin its travels in southern India from 2017. The southern India routes will include Goa, Maharashtra and Kerala. The new chapter of the train bound on southern exploration starts from the monsoon season of 2017, announced by Indian Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu.

Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu proclaimed that there is plentiful opportunity for tourism in Goa and (the) Konkan belt. The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC) has been requested to introduce the world’s most expensive luxury train ‘Maharaja Express’ in southern India.

Konkan Railway is not only important for the belt but today it serves as an important lifeline to the people of Goa, Konkan, Karnataka, and Kerala. Maharajas’ Express will cover Goa, Maharashtra, and Kerala creating a prospect of having a luxurious travel in the charming beauty of the Konkan belt enjoying the best of the Arabian Sea and the Western Ghats.

Indian Railway Minister laid the foundation stone for a new railway line crossing at Kharepatan in Maharashtra via video conferencing. By 2017, Maharaja Express‘ which has also won several awards for four consecutive years as the world’s best luxury train will make trips to Goa during the monsoon season.

This new plan will attract discerning tourists to Goa. The travel by Maharaja is very expensive and equipped with extravagances, hence will attract luxury indulgent tourists and generate revenue for the railway as well as (the) states.

The announcement further revealed that the Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL) will have ten more railway stations along the Goa, Konkan, Karnataka, and Kerala routes for which INR 150 crore will be spent.
