The Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) invited US President Barack Obama and his family to travel on-board the luxury train Maharaja’s Express during his visit to India. After taking the clearance from the Prime Minister’s office, the invite was sent through the Ministry of External Affairs but the destination has not yet been final. Though the US authorities have not reverted yet, however, it is expected that he will accept the invitation and will travel to Agra.

If President Obama agrees for the same, The Presidential Suite on which he will stay in is worth $3000 per night. Indian security personnel are busy sanitizing and cleaning Uttar Pradesh’s cities and the Noida Expressway. AK Manocha, the chairman and managing director of IRCTC said “We sent the invite over a week ago. Though we haven’t heard from the US authorities, we still have hopes.

The invite has not been rejected. He is expected to travel to Agra on January 27 and the ideal thing would be to travel royalty style on the Maharajas’ Express. If there is a time constraint, he is welcome to take a short ride around Delhi or even come aboard for a meal.” The train operated by IRCTC can cover the distance between Agra and Delhi in as little as two and a half hours, he said. The journey could also take longer time if the guest desires.

One of India’s finest luxury trains, Maharajas Express has a regal theme that is complemented by its state-of-the-art facilities. The train is equipped with dining halls, luxurious suites, bars, conference halls, business center, spa gymnasiums and all the amenities you can ever think of. The train has been the winner at World Travel Awards in the same category ‘World’s Leading Luxury Train’ for three consecutive years, 2012, 2013 and 2014.
