The Chandela rulers who patronized the construction of these temples created this place as their cultural capital and never actually lived here. The monument, an ultimate specimen of the blend of Mughal, Persian, Hindu and Islamic architectural styles is a must visit for all tourists coming to India.
Post your tryst with Agra and its Mughal charm, it is now time to move towards Khajuraho, a medieval city most popular for its temples with elaborate exotic sculptures. The train that you will board from Agra will take you to Jhansi, the nearest station to Orchha another medieval Indian town replete with old palaces and temples dating back to that era. The Jahangir Mahal, the Chaturbhuj Temple, and the Ram Raja Temple are the must visit places here that exhibit excellent murals and delicate 'chattris'; or domes.
