Arrive in Leh. Complete day for rest. It is imperative that you spend the day at leisure and rest to get acclimatize to the high altitude weather condition. Rushing things on the very first day might lead to acute mountain sickness (AMS), hence it is necessary to rest on the first day of your Ladakh Tour.
After early breakfast, we will leave for Spituk located 8 Kms from Leh.
8 Kms from Leh, it stands prominently on the top of hillock commanding a panoramic view of the Indus Valley for miles. Many icons of Buddha and fine Thankas are to be found in this 15th century Gompa.
Moving on wards, we'll reach Gurudwara Pathar Sahib located around 28 Kms from Leh town. It was built by the Lamas of Leh in 1517 to commemorate the visit of Guru Nanak Dev, the great prophet while on his second missionary tour (2nd Udassi 1515-1518).
A drive of another 4 km will take us to the Magnetic Hill. We will be greeted by a bright yellow board saying “MAGNETIC HILL: The phenomenon that defies gravity. Park you vehicle in the box marked with white paint on road” and your vehicle will start moving uphill even when the engines are turned off.
The confluence of River Indus and Zanskar is located in Nimoo a bit further ahead where we'll head after Magnetic Hill. The view of two ancient rivers in wed-lock is a spectacular sight to behold! In seasons they have different colors, flow and wildness.
After breakfast, proceed to Nubra Valley via the World Highest Motorable road at 5602 m, the Khardungla pass (now second to Mana Pass in Uttarakhand). We will have our lunch on way to Nubra. Nubra Valley is popularly known as Ldorma or the valley of flowers. It is situated to the North of Ladakh between the Karakoram and Ladakh ranges of the Himalayas.
After reaching Nubra we proceed for a visit to the White Sand Dunes at Hunder.
Hunder is one of the remote villages in the Ladakh district of India's northernmost State of Jammu and Kashmir (Kashmir). Lying close to the border between India and Pakistan in the north-western part of Ladakh, the village of Hunder comprises settlers that include Ladakhis and Tibetans.
You can enjoy the camel ride (on direct payment basis). Later if time permits visit Hunder and Diskit monasteries and check in at Deluxe Camp. Evening will be at leisure and overnight stay in tented accommodation.
After your breakfast at the camp, visit to Diskit Monastery en route to Leh. The Diskit Gompa of Leh Ladakh dates back to the 14th century and owe its inception to Changzem Tserab Zangpo, a disciple of Tsong-kha-pa. At the heart of Diskit Monastery is an elevated cupola, which stands adorned with a beautiful fresco that illustrates the Tashilhunpo Gompa of Tibet.
Reach Leh by afternoon and rest and relax in hotel.Evening explore Leh bazaar for souvenir, visit Leh Jokhang or Leh Mosque by foot. Your overnight stay will be arranged in a hotel.
After an early breakfast we leave for Pangong Lake through Changla pass which is 5380 Mtrs. Pangong Lake, situated at 14,000 feet (4,267 m). A long narrow basin of inland drainage, hardly six to seven kilometer at its widest point and over 130km long.
Morning at leisure to explore the beauty of lake and later we drive back to Leh enroute visiting Thiksey an impressive complex rising tier upon tier on a hill above the village & Shey, The ancient capital of Ladakh. Drive further to Leh and check in at our hotel for overnight stay.
fter breakfast, we'll head to visit Hemis Monastery located approx 47 Kms from Leh. Existed from before the 11th century Hemis Monastery is one of the biggest monasteries in Ladakh. Presently, Hemis Gompa is run by Drukpa sect of Buddhism, which once flourished during the Namgyal dynasty. It belongs to Drugpa order and was founded in year of 1630 by the First incarnation of Stagsang Raspa Nawang Gyatso.
Return to the hotel for rest and relaxation. In the evening, we will visit Leh Market & Shanti Stupa. Shanti Stupa is a Japanese Pagoda and one of the must visit places in Leh Town especially just before sunset. Shanti Stupa offers awe inspiring panorama of the Leh Town that appears as a small oasis surrounded by the lofty barren Karakoram Range of Himalayas. Dinner in the hotel.
Transfer to airport and board the flight for your onward journey.
