The pioneer of luxury trains in India, Palace on Wheels (PoW) has been given a new identity and named the 'Heritage Palace on Wheels' will run its new itinerary from December 1, 2017 onwards.
The re-christened train will run four trips in December with two itineraries. While one itinerary is the standard 'Golden Triangle', the second itinerary will cover a new sector previously untouched via rail for tourism. The 3-nights' schedule of Golden Triangle itinerary covers Delhi, Agra and Jaipur including the historic sights, architecture, culture, shopping, etc.
The newly-introduced second itinerary is a 4-night programme covering Delhi-Churu-Bikaner-Jaipur-Agra and Dholpur, returning back to Delhi. In Churu, tourists are scheduled to be taken in a bus to explore the unexplored Shekhawati region including Tal Chapper and Ramgarh, Shekhawati and a lunch halt at Dholpur.
The train though renamed is however retaining the same exterior as the previous Palace on Wheels. The first luxury train of India that in its 35 years of operation, had established itself as a prime tourism product. It had acquired an impressive image branding in the world travel trade and therefore will be unchanged.
The train would also allow tourists wishing to go on shorter tours that will also will be easy on the pocket. The fare for both the 3-night and 4-night itineraries has been fixed at USD 300 per night per person against the 650 USD of the earlier POW.
The Indian luxury train, Palace on Wheels (POW) was launched in 1994 and had already completed 23 years of luxury train vacations. The refurbished and renamed Heritage Palace on Wheels will continue with its legacy.
