Operator of Golden Chariot, KSTDC (Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation) has come up with new marketing strategies to encourage bulk bookings for this luxury train. The new strategy will target educational institutions, colleges, multinationals and corporate to promote bulk bookings. According to the project director of Golden Chariot , Mr. Srinivas "Annually, educational institutions take students on a vacation. We are focusing on such institutions, who would promote the Golden Chariot by word of mouth. South Indian tourism and the luxury train would gain more publicity, generating more revenue for the railways". For effective implementation of this strategy, direct presentations will be used rather than traditional methods. The tourism department has also cut down the prices up to 15 to 20 percent on bulk bookings. With the implementation of this new strategy, authorities are expecting at least 50% bookings this season.
Golden Chariot with its two distinct itineraries - Splendor of the South and Pride of the South - takes tourists on expeditions to explore destinations in South India which include heritage sites, architectural marvel and natural and cultural treasure troves.
