The Splendor of the South journey of Golden Chariot is all set to embark on its maiden voyage for the upcoming run season. Golden Chariot will set out on its first seasonal southern splendor departure from Bangalore to Goa on 15th October, 2012. Golden Chariot is the brain child of Karnataka State Tourism and Development Corporation (KSTDC) and the Indian Railways and brings to fore the natural and cultural treasure troves of southern region of India. The 8 days and 7 nights Splendor of the South journey lets you explore the temple towns of Tamil Nadu, French colony of Pondicherry and backwater heaven of Kerala. The all inclusive Splendor of the South itinerary of Golden Chariot starts from a price of US$ 627 per person per night and concludes in the garden city ‘Bangalore’ after 168 hours of long chug.
Built on the lines of Palace on Wheels, Golden Chariot is the first disabled friendly luxury tourist train in India. The train offers accommodation in terms of 44 luxuriously appointed cabins which include 25 twin bed cabins, 18 double bed cabins and 1 cabin for physically handicapped. Each of the 44 cabins creates a flattering juxtaposition of traditional and contemporary evident in its ethnic décor and state of the art amenities. The modern facilities such as LCD television, Wi-Fi internet and individual temperature control are provided in these cabins. Other facilities housed in this luxury tourist train include 2 lavishly decorated restaurants, conference coach and recreational coach.
