Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 - Mumbai
Arrive in the Chatrapati Shivaji Terminus by about 16:00 hours and enjoy a traditional welcome by the attendants of the Indian Maharaja. As they escort you to your luxury cabins, you will see your fantasy of traveling in a luxury Indian train coming true, just before your eyes.

Dinner will be served aboard the train and swiftly you will proceed towards the first destination in the circuit - Aurangabad.

Day 2 - Aurangabad
In the morning you will arrive in Daulatabad located in Aurangabad. Post breakfast you will move towards the Ellora Caves, grand ancient wonders housed in Maharashtra, mostly visited for the impeccable art done on hard rocks. The beauty of the magnificently adorned Hindu, Buddhist, and Jain temples will simply take your breath away. Post lunch in a city hotel; move on to the Ajanta Caves that are located at a distance of about 100 km away. The Ajanta Caves are fondly visited for its splendid cave paintings that depict Buddhist religious art.

From Ajanta, drive down to Daulatabad where the Indian Maharaja has already arrived. Dinner will be served onboard and you will then proceed towards Udaipur.

Day 3 - Udaipur
On the 3rd day of the trip, you will arrive in the historical city of Udaipur, a significant destination in Rajasthan. Popularly known as the city of lakes, Udaipur is home to a number of monuments depicting Rajputana styles of architecture and also several forts and palaces. After a delectable brunch aboard the train, you will embark on sightseeing trails through the heart of the city. City Palace, Sahelion ki Baari, the Jagdish temple, and the Jag Mandir are a few of the most noteworthy places that you will visit on this day.

Dinner will be organized in a luxury city hotel.
Return to the train and travel down the next destination - Sawai Madhopur.

Day 4 - Sawai Madhopur
The plentiful wildlife housed within the Ranthambore National Park attracts and invites guests to come here throughout the year. The abundant tiger population is the most significant feature to look out for, while here. As they remain active throughout the day, you can visit the park at any time and feast on wonderful visuals of the royal animal. A morning safari and an afternoon safari post lunch will more than make your journey exciting and complete.

Retire for the day in the evening in the cozy comforts of your train coach and travel down to Jaipur, the capital city of the state and the following destination in the circuit.

Day 5 - Jaipur
Several forts, palaces, grand havelis, and gardens call Jaipur their home. No wonder, tourists flock to it throughout the year! The guests of the Indian Maharaja will be treated to a sumptuous breakfast, in the true Rajasthani style and then taken across the city to the various points of attractions including the Amer Fort, the Hawa Mahal, the City Palace, and the Jantar Mantar.

Return to the Indian Maharaja Luxury train in the evening for some leisure moments and to travel to Bharatpur that houses the Keoladeo Bird Sanctuary.
Dinner will be served onboard the train.

Day 6 - Bharatpur/ Fatehpur Sikri/ Agra
Arrive in Bharatpur in the wee hours of the morning and make an early morning trip to the bird sanctuary that is most famous for its migratory bird population. Later, drive to Agra enroute visiting the medieval structures of Fatehpur Sikri. The Buland Darwaza, Panch Mahal, and the Tomb of Salim Chisti are a few of the important structures to name in the order.

Later, move on to Agra - the land of the Taj Mahal! One of the Seven Wonders of the World, Taj Mahal epitomizes the love between Emperor Shah Jahan and his beautiful wife Mumtaz Mahal. Other than the Taj, Agra is also home to the Agra Fort and a host of other monuments dating back to the Mughal era.

Day 7 - Delhi
Arrive in Delhi, the national capital and the melting point of several cultures. Post-breakfast embark on tours across the city and visit the topmost attractions housed here such as Raj Ghat, Jama Masjid, Qutub Minar, and the India Gate. In the evening, the cocktails and grand dinner aboard the train will surely bring the 8 day sojourn to a spectacular finish.

Day 8 - Depart Delhi
Your journey will end on the 8th day morning when after breakfast you will be received at the station and given a great farewell. You will proceed towards your respective destinations; sweet memories of the trip will however accompany you.

Day 1 - Delhi
Arrive in the city and spend some time in refreshing your senses before moving out of the hotel to visit the city attractions. The locations you will visit during the day include Red Fort, Raj Ghat, India Gate, and the Qutab Minar to name a few in the order.

Later in the day, by 16:00 hours arrive in the Safdarjung Railway Station. Enjoy being welcomed in the most traditional way by the attendants of the Indian Maharaja before they escort you till your cabins!
Dinner and overnight stay in the Indian Maharaja as you will travel towards Agra.

Day 2 - Agra
Arrive in Agra by morning and post an early breakfast, proceed towards the city where the attractions like Taj Mahal and Agra Fort wait to welcome you to its environs. Taj Mahal is one of the Seven Wonders of the World and epitomizes the love between Emperor Shah Jahan and his beautiful wife Mumtaz Mahal. Take a break in between for lunch and then continue visiting the remaining attractions of the city including also the markets of the city.

Overnight stay in the train as you will proceed to Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan.

Day 3 - Jaipur
Arrive in Jaipur and alight at the railway station. A short trip post breakfast will land you at the Amer Fort, a gloomy structure standing tall just outside the Jaipur city. Later, return to the city to visit its attractions like the Hawa Mahal, the City Palace complex, Jantar Mantar, and also the markets for purchasing a host of local craft items as excellent souvenir pieces.

Dinner will be organized in a luxury city hotel.
Return back to the train by evening and move on to Sawai Madhopur, the land of the tigers!

Day 4 - Sawai Madhopur
Sawai Madhopur is popular as the home to the Ranthambore National Park, a wildlife sanctuary mostly visited for its excellent collection of tiger varieties. Capture the different moods of the tigers throughout the day - lazing, playing around, feasting, and also wandering in solitude; before you return back to the Indian Maharaja train and travel down to Udaipur.

Day 5 - Udaipur
Known as the city of lakes, Udaipur is one of the most popular destinations in Rajasthan. This city is fondly frequented by visitors for its historical remnants as well as its lip smacking cuisines served in the eateries housed here. On arrival in the city, enjoy a sumptuous breakfast before dismounting the train and embarking on the sightseeing trip across the city. The attractions that you will visit on the 5th day of the trip are boat ride at the lake Pichola, the Jagdish temple, the Sahelion ki Baari, Jag Mandir, Lake Palace, and last but not the least the City Palace complex.

Enjoy a lavish dinner, especially organized for the guests of Indian Maharaja in a heritage hotel before returning to the train for overnight stay and traveling to the next destination, Ahmedabad.

Day 6 - Ahmedabad
After traveling for the night, you will enter into another glorious Indian city Ahmedabad. Nestled in Gujarat, Ahmedabad is a popular destination for the devotees, history lovers, as well as guests interested in Indian culture. The mosques, temples, historical monuments, and cuisine of the city will leave you spell bound and wanting for more. The attractions of the city you will visit on this day are Teen Darwaza, Jamma Masjid, temple of Hathi Singh, and the Shaking Minarets.

Day 7 - Aurangabad
Arrive and alight in the Jalgaon railway station and undertake a short bus ride till the Ajanta caves, located at a distance of about 55 km from here. Ajanta caves are noted for the ancient Buddhist religious art and a trip to Maharashtra is considered incomplete without visiting these caves.

From the Ajanta caves, move on to Aurangabad and visit the ancient caves and other monuments housed here. The attractions that you will visit here comprise of the Bibi ka Maqbara, Panchakki, and the Aurangabad Caves.

Later, proceed towards Daulatabad and embark on the Indian Maharaja Train that has already arrived here and ready to take you to Mumbai, the last destination in the sojourn.

Day 8 - Mumbai
You will arrive in the Chatrapati Shivaji Station in the morning and alight post-breakfast. The memories of the trail will surely haunt you in a pleasant way forever!

The tariff includes a number of fees including entrance fees in the monuments, palaces, parks, boat rides, and also rickshaw rides at Bharatpur. The tariff however does not include the business car facilities, Spa facilities, liquor, fees for video camera, and laundry.


The cancellation policies applicable to the Indian Maharaja are:

  • 30% of ticket value 59-45 days prior to departure.
  • 50% of ticket value 44-30 days prior to departure.
  • 100% of ticket value less than 29 days prior to departure.
